Engineer's Club Theater
Baltimore, Maryland

The Garrett-Jacobs Mansion was designed by John Russell Pope and is located in the Mount Vernon Historic District in Baltimore, Maryland.

Between the late 1800's and early 1900's four contiguous row homes were combined to create a single magnificent residence.

In 1962 The Engineer's Club of Baltimore purchased the property and began an extensive restoration.

Contained in the Mansion is a 70 foot by 30 foot theater/ballroom. My associate Jeffrey Phebus and I were retained to restore the woodwork and finish of the stage end of the room. We repaired or replaced carving details, cleaned all the woodwork and finished the entire element with new reduced sheen shellac prior to gold leafing by Thomas Moore Studios of Baltimore.

Restoration & Repair

Pardon Me
Antique Boat Museum
Clayton, New York

Pardon Me is a John Hacker designed 48 foot runabout style boat gifted to the Museum several years ago. It was built for Charles Lyon in 1947-'48 by Hutchinson's Boat Works of Alexandria Bay, N.Y.

The Museum undertook an effort to restore and preserve Pardon Me with the goal of returning it to the water in safe running condition.

I started the work by removing the interior, removing fuel tanks for replacement and performing a major stem repair as well as some frames in the forward bilge under the forward fuel tank. I also began bottom work by refastening the starboard bottom planking with silicon bronze.

I concentrate principally on quality antique furniture. I combine the desires of my clients with respect for each piece. Prior experience, woodworking and finishing skills, and a knowledge of and deep regard for historic preservation principles and techniques guide my approach to each project.

I also perform work on more recent, high-end pieces and provide custom finishing for new work.
